its not black for starters. but its made up of so many things: some of it is red from rusted metal thats disintegrated. theres white chalky sand. salt. sulfur. all kinds of chemicals and minerals. it dont look like much but you can get a lot out of sand if you know what youre looking for.

In my world, we have herbs and tinctures and teas that do all sorts of things, but they are hard to come by, and only maesters and other such people know how to make them. Most likely, they would give you milk of the poppy.
In more modern worlds, I am told that pills are the very opposite: common and easy to obtain. The ones I have seen work far better than what remedies I know from Westeros.
Sometimes you have to take them every few hours, but they do help. If they're strong enough they can help greatly, but it is sometimes like being drunk. What I'm looking for would not take is all away, but it would take a good deal of it.
minerals for gunpowder and explosives. and if you heat the right kind of sand hot enough you get glass. theres lots of glass things here: windows and glasses and bowls and such. but its quite the luxury where im from.
id be more than willing to try it if you can find any.
